Belfast

Last Saturday (the 30th of October) we all went on a Tisch sponsored trip to Belfast in Northern Ireland. We started with a tour of the city's famous murals:

We then walked through the Milltown Cemetery, where many people who died during the Troubles were buried:

Next, we took a tour of the murals on the other side of town:

Finally we stopped at the Ulster Transport Museum:

We saw a real DeLorean!

A short but fun trip!

Fall Break - Day 1 (London)

Last week I traveled around the south of England with my aunt Amy. '

We started in London on Sunday and took a touristy bus ride around the city. It was so great to see all the famous sites!

We met at Paddington Station

Part of London

Our morbid tour guide that like to talk about hanging...

Fountain outside the museum

Lions in front of the museum

Big Ben

Thames River

London Bridge and the HMS Belfast

Inside Windsor Castle

We then went on a architectural river tour and saw the London Eye...

...and Houses of Parliament

In the early evening we had some time to kill before our overnight train so we saw the movie Made in Dagenham. We had dinner at a great restaurant called Belgo then headed back to Paddington for our overnight train to Penzance.

More pictures to come soon!

My Brief Stint in Prison

Yesterday I went on a tour of Kilmainham Gaol with my history class. It was amazing to actually be there after seeing it in several films.

There was a lot of graffiti done by prisoners:

Some of the cells had names above them to show where famous people, like Patrick Pearse, were held:

The tour ended outside in the yard where prisoners were executed (very eerie but also interesting):

Afterwards we made a stop at the National Museum of Ireland's storage room.

Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures, but we did get to see their full inventory of guns and swords. We even got to hold some rifles! It was an amazing opportunity and a great museum. Even better, it's free admission!
